                                                       Mugu Education Program

Mugu is one of the most remote and poorest districts in Nepal. It is located in the far north west. It takes a number of days travelling by jeep on one of the worlds most treacherous and dangerous roads, a rocky and gravel road perched on the mountainside, it is not for the faint hearted. Rara Lake which is Nepal's largest fresh water lake and is at an altitude of nearly 3000m is situated in Mugu.

The education system in Mugu is well below standard with many schools under resourced. Teachers are reluctant to live and work there as there is no electricity and it lacks basic essentials. The locals live in poverty and in very substandard housing and life is tough. There are not many NGOs or organisations providing support in the area and the district is often neglected by the federal government when it comes to assistance especially in areas of infrastructure health and education.

Advance Nepal endeavours to support some of the students and schools by any means possible by providing resources and when possible training recruiting and sponsoring teachers to work in some selected schools.
